I know you use Canva and I am OK with it...BUT if I know you use Canva and I am OK with it...BUT if you need help with Canva, I'm here to help! As a designer, I don't hate it but it is still a bit of a mess to navigate, and there are lots of new designers and marketing professionals who only know how to use canva so it can get confusing when you're looking for a designer's help in your business! 😢
.
Here are my tips for keeping your brand consistent in Canva and make sure you're not making more work for yourself and designers in your life!
.
1.) Make a Brand Kit! From the homepage side panel - click the Brand and on the Brand Kit tab, click + Add Brand Kit. Enter your new Brand Kit's name and click Create. From here you can upload your logos, color palettes and fonts. Boom! Now only use those colors, fonts & imagery in your brand kit to keep consistency!
.
2.) If you're creating something that you'd like to print, make sure that your printer doesn't need a specific art file. I know canva has their own printing available, but often the files are rejected by professional printers because it lacks certain elements & tools that other design programs have so when they open it, it's not what you see on canva.
.
3.) Make sure you have the rights to what you're using to protect yourself from future legal issues. The images off of canva come from free stock image sites like pexels. It's also not going to make you the files you need for your branding long-term. If you make your logo in canva - it's going to have to be fixed outside of canva to do anything like embroidery, cutting out with your cricut, laser-engraving, or being blown up to a much larger size. Did you know they also renamed many of their fonts? So if you love a font on canva it's most likely named something else and can be purchased/downloaded for use outside of canva as well.
.
4.) Think of it more like a place to quickly come up with ideas and social media content. I love when people give me an idea of what they're looking for with a canva file! Remember it's a DIY program, so it's full of templates that everyone can use so it's not very custom or creative.
As a designer, I must admit that nothing pleases m As a designer, I must admit that nothing pleases me more than when a client has put together an excellent Pinterest board. I ask clients to provide me with one as the first section in my brand questionnaire so I can visually see where they're at and it's how I can say I ✨read minds✨
.
However, it's important to note that all boards are not created equal! 😉 Check out these tips to make sure you're not overdoing it for yourself or for your designer!
Hi I'm Hillary! I'm reintroducing myself after ano Hi I'm Hillary! I'm reintroducing myself after another long absence! I still don't have this work/life balance thing down pat 100% but I am getting there, slowly!
.
Honestly, I am rarely on social media because I've been juggling the other roles of my life and enjoying being disconnected from technology in my free time!
.
What are some of your tips for work/life balance when you are juggling so many different roles? I would love to know! ❤️
Pride & Prejudice - especially the 2005 version wi Pride & Prejudice - especially the 2005 version with Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen is my All-time favorite "chick flick!" and believe it or not, I'm such a nerd for any period-drama. 🤓
.
Behold, a colour palette inspired by the film! It invokes a wamth and sense of calm much like the slow burning love of the main characters!
.
Tell me, what's your go-to movie? Does it possess the potential to unleash a dazzling explosion of mesmerising hues?
